Sky broadband installation fees

It also works with any Sky Q mini boxes you have installed in other rooms to maximise wifi coverage throughout your home. Compare Sky bundles. You can order Sky TV without taking broadband from Sky, but you will need a broadband connection from any provider you like if you want to make the most of all the features Sky TV has to offer. You'll also need a satellite dish installed on a south-facing wall of your house. If you don't already have one, then Sky may be able to offer you installation as part of setting up your TV services.

There will also be local satellite companies in your area that can help. If you live in rented accommodation, you'll need to get permission from the landlord before having a dish installed, as you would before having any holes drilled in the walls to allow for cables to enter the property.

If you live in a block of flats, it may be that your home has access to a shared satellite — this will also be sufficient and means you won't need to install a dish of your own. The engineer will check that everything is ok with the dish and will set up both the Sky Q set-top box and any Sky Q Mini boxes you may have ordered.

The whole visit shouldn't take much longer than an hour and you can expect this to happen within a couple of weeks of placing your Sky TV order. Your viewing card will be sent to you in the post, and everything else will be taken care of on the day of your engineer visit.

Compare Sky TV deals. Sky encourages its customers to use the troubleshooting guides on its website before booking an engineer visit, as you'll often find you can fix the problem yourself with the right help. If this doesn't sort it, you can book an appointment by calling Sky customer services on Sky announced in that it was working on a version of the Sky Q box that doesn't require a dish, but that hasn't appeared yet.

In most cases, it takes about two weeks to get Sky broadband or TV installed unless there's a problem with your telephone line or you need a new one installed , in which case it's going to be a bit longer. Sky offers a live chat service on its website.

There's also a troubleshooting section and if that doesn't answer your query, your best bet is to give customer services a call or get in touch via social media. If you're with another provider that uses the Openreach broadband network BT, TalkTalk, EE, Plusnet etc then yes, all you need to do is place an order with Sky and they'll do the rest. If you're with Virgin Media, you will need to tell them you're leaving and arrange a date for your services to cease. This website uses cookies to give you the best experience.

I just don't know if the Sky Engineer does it or if I should be expecting another appointment with BT Openreach to pull the fibre through. Would have to be Openreach, I think, as the infrastructure is 'theirs' up to the ethernet port on the ONT.

So on my install date the Openreach guys called me in the morning to confirm, they came and connected the wire from wherever it was in the street into the house through a small drilled hole.

They installed the ONT and set the router up. At no point of installation do you ever actually meet a "Sky" engineers which they don't make clear. The install date will come around and it Will be Openreach who undertake the job, which by the sounds of it will be similar to my install in that all the groundwork has been done and it's simple a case of running the cabling into the house for the ONT.

Was really inpressed by the whole setup process, just wish Sky were clearer with it all as it's mostly pain free. So wonder if that will happen then.

Trying to get through to Sky on the phone to find out is proving to be a joke so far. Either get directed to website or cut off. I shall await the date and see what happens. As you say, from what they said on the phone, an engineer will to the ONT part, I should just have to plug in the Sky router when it arrives. Openreach were even kind enough to set the router up though I did some tinkering afterwards and move my furniture back into place.

So an Openreach engineer turned up at 9. Wasn't installing anything, just making sure the duct from the pavement to the house was free of any blockages so there wouldn't be any issues on the install date. And there isn't so all looks good. Half and hour later I get another email from Sky telling me to make sure my ONT is functioning properly and to take note of the date on the right hand side of the email.

So they are still sending out the confusing message, and there was no date on the email!!! Someone from Sky needs to clear this up. What good is it if the person on the phone tells you one thing, then the email is telling you that you should already have it and it should be working! Fast thing? An Open Reach engineer came 2 weeks ago, fitted a box inside my lounge and then said he needed a colleague with a small scaffold tower to complete the job to fit the fibre cable from the property to the telegraph pole.

Thinking he'd pop back in the afternoon I've not seen hide nor hare of him since! I've rang Sky twice now and on both occasions they said it was unacceptable that I don't have a completion date for the installation. Over 3 weeks have passed now and I've still no idea when the installation will be completed. Big deal. We know how important your broadband is.
